CommonTechnology,UncommonResults:GameShowsandCooperativeLearninginUndergraduateEntrepreneurshipClassesLynnNeeleyJackT.MarchewkaNorthernIllinoisUniversityTeachingandlearningmethodsthatencouragecreativityandcriticalthinkingareimportanttohelpundergraduatestudentsenhancetheirabilitiesandrealizetheireducationalgoals.Traditionallymanyinstructorshavereliedonlecturesasateachingtool,andsomestudentshavetakennotesmoreintentlythantheyhavelistened.Thisencouragedinstructorstomakelecturenotesavailable,andsubsequently,somestudentsdidnotattendclassifexaminationsfocusedonfactsfromtextbooksandnotes.Asaresultthelecture-basedlearningandteachingstylehassometimesnotbeenrewardingforthestudentsortheinstructors.Whilelectureshavebeenbeneficial,moreactivelearningtoolsmayenhancethatapproach.Thispaperdescribesateachinginnovationthatpromotedactiveandcooperativelearningmethodsinanundergraduateentrepreneurshipcourseatalarge,Mid-westernuniversity.Theseexperiencesmayinterestinstructorsasawaytoincreasestudents=attentivenesstoclassroomsessionswithtechnologicalresourcesthatarecommonatmostcollegesanduniversities.Thispaperhasthreesections:aliteraturereviewgivesthetheorybehindtheinnovation;theactiveteachingmethodsaredescribednext;andsomepointsaredrawnfromtheoutcomesoftheexperience.TheoreticalfoundationTheoriestosupportinnovativeteachingmethodsappearintheliteratureonactiveandcooperativelearningpedagogy,andtechnologically-assistedlearning(Farrington,1999;Fiet,2001a;Katz,1999).Scholarshavearguedthattheadditionofactivelearningtechniques,suchasgamesorstudents=presentationsoftheir
